Bight Me!

Bight Me – a celebration in paintings, sculpture, photography and craft work of Hastings foreshore – jetty, yacht pen, launch ramp, marinas, wildlife, sea and cloudscapes.
To coincide with Westernport Craft Festival this event is Inspired by similar event in Sydney on the Glebe foreshore. The local businesses of Hastings will display these art forms in their shop windows.

Fran Henke of Hastings, Victoria, is a retired journalist, writer, artist and photographer. During 50 years in newspapers, she worked as media advisor for state and federal politicians, also as a member of the Commonwealth Film Censorship Board. In between, as Frances Kelly she wrote many books on gardening; then under her married name, extensively on polio issues, and four historical novels.
Her Visual artist Diploma from Chisholm Frankston, majoring in Printmaking and Sculpture was achieved in 2010 with seven High Distinctions. Her prints, paintings and sculptures have been widely exhibited. As chair of McClelland Guild of Artists, she undertook rebuilding of the studio. With Peter Batey she co-authored In Yer Face, the Bald Archy Prize. Her satirical portraits were finalists in the Bald Archy Prize and portraits at OakHill winning director’s awards.
She is deputy chair of Polio Network Victoria, has been Mornington Peninsula Shire’s mobility scooter ambassador. Manages Facebook pages for PNV and Post Polio Universal. Her 24th book 'The Coriolis Effect' has just been published. For any further details – backgrounder
