This discussion with Zoë Bastin and special guests will follow a week of intensive creative development for How We Rise - an experimental dance project working site responsively to the waves and coastal ecologies of Merricks Beach. How We Rise is an iteration of Zoë’s ongoing project Waves Are Disturbances (Waves).
This session is an opportunity to learn more about Zoë’s artistic practice. We will also hear from composer Grace Ferguson and special guests (to be announced).
Panellists will reflect on the iteration of Waves at Merricks, and how waves can be a compelling metaphor to consider our relationship to forces more powerful than ourselves. We will also consider what it means for artists and communities to engage with an experimental dance work that responds to a local place. What is the potential to inform/transform connection to place, ourselves and each other?
